Washington, D.C., United States (AHN) – President Barack Obama on Friday heads to Toledo to tour Chrysler’s Assembly Complex there to extract maximum political mileage from the fact that just over a week after Chrysler Group LLC paid off its federal bailout loan of $7.6 billion.

Paving the way to the visit is also a White House report released on Wednesday highlighting the resurgence of the American auto industry and emphasizing the turnaround of the companies that are now turning a profit after hanging on the borderline of collapse.

The report noted that the certain closures would have cost at least an additional one million jobs and devastated vast parts of our nation’s industrial heartland.

The presidential decision to “save GM (General Motors) and Chrysler was about more than those two companies,” said the report, adding, “It was about standing behind the countless workers, communities, and businesses – large and small – that depend on the automotive industry.”

The report cited the comeback shown by the American auto industry in last two years, with GM “expanding production and adding jobs,” while Chrysler repaying “its outstanding loans to the U.S. Treasury – six years ahead of schedule.”

“Since GM and Chrysler emerged from bankruptcy, the auto industry has created 115,000 jobs, its strongest period of job growth since the late 1990s. GM, Ford and Chrysler have all returned to profitability, and in 2010, the “Detroit three” gained market share for the first time since 1995,” the report highlighted.

Addressing journalists on Wednesday in the White House, Ron Bloom, Assistant to the President for Manufacturing Policy Ron Bloom said, “Now, the credit for that importantly goes to the men and women of those companies and their stakeholders, who all made very, very difficult decisions to come together.”

Bloom, however, added, “But we think that it is also worth noting that the courageous decision the President made to stand behind these companies.”

Asked to give a breakdown of the money involved in rejuvenating the American auto industry, Bloom told journalists, “The total funds invested, including the prior administration, into the industry is roughly $80 billion. Roughly $40 billion has been returned to date.”

“The remaining money is accounted for by stakes in General Motors — we’ve sold about half of what we own, but we still own the other half — a small equity stake in Chrysler; and a stake in Ally Financial, which is the old General Motors Acceptance Corporation,” Bloom added.

About the administration policy of selling the stakes, Bloom said, “I think it’s a question of a principle that we’ve adopted that we don’t think we should be a permanent or long-term player in the private economy, and we’re trying to be true to that principle.”

Bloom urged Congress to move ahead with pending law making process saying, “The actions taken by this Administration have laid the foundation for manufacturing’s quiet resurgence, but we cannot be complacent. That is why Congress must take action to build on our early momentum.”

On Friday around 1 p.m., the North Toledo plant of Chrysler where the company makes Jeep Wranglers, would be hosting President Obama as he is scheduled to arrive at Toledo Express Airport in the morning according to the White House sources.

Personal loans are not new to borrowers. Right through the ages, people have been using personal loans to arrange cash for their financial needs. The following articles summarises the advantages which makes personal loans the number one financial option.

I do not draw a very large salary package, but have come up through a lot many grades. Apart from the other lessons that this ascent taught me, the most important lesson was that no matter what you earn, your expenses would always exceed them.

The deficit was not hard to fill up. There were personal loans that forever bridged the gap.

Personal loans have a very long history of serving the residents of the UK. Apart from me, there are an equally large number of people who find their incomes deficient. It is personal loan again that provides the necessary cash for fulfilling their needs.

The needs to be covered through personal loans are as varied as the people themselves. Unless the personal loan is used for non commercial purposes, the loan providers wouldn’t object. So, whether you want to consolidate debts, or want to give a new look to your home through repairs of improvements, personal loans are always there.

Personal loan amount will depend on the needs of the borrowers. It will also depend on the amount that borrower is able to command .The amount lent ranges from ₤5000 to ₤75000. For instance, borrowers can draw personal loans up to the maximum limit for settling debts of a larger amount. Those with an even greater need have loan providers lending them ₤100000.

Interest rates are the best part of personal loans .Since it is used only for non-commercial purpose, borrowers can qualify for a much lower interest. The APR typically ranges from 6-25%. The range includes borrowers of all types of credit status. Borrowers who have a bad credit history have to pay a higher interest rate. Can they complain? No! They know fully well that they put loan providers to a greater risk. The high interest rate is only to make good the increased risk.

Have you thought how you are going to repay the personal loan? You didn’t want the question of repayment to emerge so soon. But personal loans can be enjoyed to the fullest extent only where the borrower is ready with the plans of repayment of the personal loan.

With the large variety of repayment methods available in UK, borrowers will not have to be stuck to certain standard method. If asked to recommend the best repayment method, I would surely go with the monthly repayment method. No other method clears the loan in so systematic manner as the monthly repayment method. Besides never is the borrower burdened with a very large repayment. This is because every month borrower is just required to repay a part of the personal loan.

Other methods too are attractive but have certain drawbacks which do not make them as viable. Certain borrowers would prefer to pay the entire personal loan through a one time payment. It is not possible for all people to pay a large personal loan at once. Limited income obstructs borrowers in this venture .Had they have enough money, why would they take loans at the first hand.

The repayment decision is not to be compromised with. You can secure the future of the personal loan to a large extent by taking the correct decisions. You do not have to feel alone in the decision. You can engage a group of experts to give you independent advice of a range of issues associated with personal loans.

We all want we haven't got, whether its a trip round the world, double glazing, or a new car. And most of us are pretty useless at saving up to buy all these things we want. Which means that we generally end up buying with borrowed money.

Borrowing money is a big decision and not something that can be rushed into without thinking it through. That’s why most financial experts recommend you take the time to go through the advice section and answer the following questions.

How much do I need to borrow and how much can I afford?

What is a realistic repayment period for me?

What are my other borrowing options?

Should I go for a secured or unsecured loan?

What do I need to know about interest rates?

How do I find the best loan company or loan broker?

How much do I need to borrow and how much can I afford?

The amount of money you need to borrow will probably be the same as the cost of the holiday, car, or any other item you intend to purchase. In any case that is a decision for you to make, the only advice I can offer is to make sure you only borrow the amount of money that you really need that you can afford the repayments.

In order to work out how much you can afford to pay back you’ll need to have a money management plan. This plan contains your budget, all household income and all household outgoings and helps you to identify what you want to do with any left over money at the end of the month. Once you have finished your plan you can see how much you can realistically afford to pay each month. That amount should then determine how much you borrow and over what time period you pay it back.

What is a realistic repayment period for me?

Its very temping to opt for a long repayment period as it means you can either pay back a smaller amount each month or even choose increase the amount of money you borrow. However you should remember that the longer the term of the loan the more money you will pay back in total (interest and charges). The repayment table below demonstrates the extra cost of longer repayment periods.

However it’s equally important to not end going for the shortest possible repayment period you can afford and leaving your monthly balance sheet at zero with no room for movement should you spend more than you budgeted for in any given month. So always be careful to allow for any surprises and make sure you leave enough money so that you can enjoy yourself from time to time.

Example repayment table (at 10%)

Repayment period	3 years	5 years	10 years

Amount borrowed £10,000.00	£10,000.00	£10,000.00

Total interest repaid	£1,543.40	£2,621.60	£5,573.60

Monthly repayment	£320.65	£210.36	£129.70	respectively

What are my other borrowing options?

Before taking out a personal loan you should always study what other options you have open to you to finance that purchase. If you have savings then it will definitely save you money to use the savings instead of paying interest on loans. Should using savings not be possible for you other forms of borrowing include the following.

Overdrafts. If you only need money for a relatively short period of time and only every now and again then you should consider an overdraft facility. Overdrafts are not recommended for medium and long term borrowing.

Credit Card. Credit Cards are another excellent form of short term lending. If you just need a bit of help from time too time then credit cards can be very handy and flexible. Most cards also offer cash back, 0% balance transfers for the first six months or low introductory rates. The typically higher APR of credit cards once the “offer” period expires means that they are not as cost effective as personal loans beyond the short term.
Re-Mortgage. Another option for homeowners is re-mortgaging their homes to unlock the capital tied up in the property and with the significant growth in house values of the last few years most people do now have significant equity in their home. Interest rates for this type of borrowing are normally low but it’s worth remembering that you could be paying off your mortgage well into your previously planned retirement.

Should I go for a secured or unsecured loan?

Personal loans can be either secured or unsecured. A secured loan is secured on a major asset, usually the borrower’s home. They are cheaper than unsecured loans but if you continually miss repayments (default on the loan agreement) you risk loosing your home as it can be seized by the lender and sold to repay your debt, although this is usually a last resort for most lenders. Secured loans are commonly used when borrowing larger sums of money over a long period of time.

The other type of personal loan is an unsecured loan. If you don’t have a home or pay a mortgage then you can only take out unsecured loans. Unsecured loans are usually available for smaller amounts (£500 – £15,000). These loans are more expensive because they are riskier for the lender as they can’t repossess your house to recover the loan if anything goes wrong. Of course unsecured loans are also open to homeowners as well.

What do I need to know about interest rates?

In short the lower the annual percentage rate (APR) the better. However the amount of interest you pay on a loan depends on your credit rating. If you have a good rating then you are a safer bet for the loan company and can therefore enjoy a lower interest rate. It’s also worth noting that the rates you see advertised are often only available for people with excellent credit ratings or who borrow a specified minimum amount.

Another common mistake is comparing loans based on interest rates. The interest rate on its own does not give the full picture as it doesn’t include all charges. However help is at hand in the form of the annual percentage rate or APR, which is a calculation that allows consumers to benchmark and compare the cost of borrowing. APR takes into account both the interest rate you pay and any other fees charged by the loan provider. It also looks at when and how often interest and charges must be paid. So make sure you compare APR’s when shopping around for the best deal and not the advertised interest rate.

How do I find the best loan company or loan broker?

Once you have answered all the other questions you are ready to start shopping around for the best value loan for your circumstances. Unless you get lucky first time then the only way to get the best loan is to do just that, shop around and compare rates. This is usually time consuming but often worthwhile as the difference from one lender to another is often in the hundreds. Loan Brokers claim to do the searching for you but are not necessarily the cheapest and sometimes have a large fee so make sure you check out lots of companies for yourself.

It’s also worth remembering that the cheapest loan companies aren’t always the best. So go with a company that you feel you can trust even if it costs you a little more. Some of the smaller and less ethical companies will provide a lower standard of customer service and possibly apply more charges than some of the more established lenders that have brand names to protect.

So off you go and get the best value loan you can find. Good Luck.

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (AHN) – Ontario Court of Appeal Justice Marc Rosenberg said Monday he would likely decide by Saturday whether continue for another 60 days a stay of a lower court’s ruling to strike down Canadian prostitution laws.

The current stay order expires Nov. 27. Rosenberg said if the ruling is not out by Saturday, all the parties to the case have agreed that certain acts related to prostitution would remain criminal activities until a judgment is released.

Federal and provincial governments asked the Court of Appeal for a 60-day stay on the ruling made by Ontario Court Judge Susan Himel that struck down the country’s prostitution laws. She ruled the regulations contribute to dangers faced by those engaged in the flesh trade and that the rules violate their rights.

Ottawa and the provincial governments argued that prostitution is always risky and making some acts connected with the flesh trade no longer criminal is not in line with the moral values of majority of Canadians.

Federal government lawyer Michael Morris warned that if Rosenberg did not issue a stay order, Canada would enter into a period of unprecedented social experimentation that would have a profound and irreversible effect on the status quo.

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (AHN) – The Justice Ministry is warning in a legal brief that Ontario runs the risk of being Canada’s prostitution hub. The warning was made just a week before an Ontario Superior Court ruling permitting sex trade workers to openly solicit customers takes effect in the province.

The landmark ruling has a potential of being copied and applied by other Canadian provinces.

To stop the implementation of Justice Susan Himel’s decision, the ministry petitioned the Ontario Court of Appeal to stay the ruling because of the irreparable damage the decision would wreak on the public interest. The Court of Appeal has seat a Monday hearing on the ministry’s petition.

Himel stayed her decision for 30 days and extended the stay for another 30 days. By Nov. 27, her ruling is scheduled to take effect unless the Court of Appeal rules otherwise.

The ministry said that if the Court of Appeal would not grant a stay on Himel’s ruling, it would create distinctions in the operation of the federal Criminal Code in Ontario and other Canadian provinces.

Aside from boosting the flesh trade, the ruling would also lead to more drug trafficking, violence, garbage, noise and traffic, the ministry warned.

Washiington, D.C., United States (AHN) – The United States has briefed Pakistan on President Barack Obama’s decision to endorse Indian aspirations to join U.N. Security Council with a permanent seat and is leaving it to Islamabad to deal with the facts, according to the State Department.

Answering questions on Friday, PJ Crowley, the State Department spokesman told journalists, “We have briefed the government of Pakistan on the President’s announcement. I’m not aware that there was any particular concern expressed.”

“This (Obama’s support) is a reflection of the growing importance of the region to the rest of the world, and Pakistan should not see this as something that comes at their expense. It does not,” he said at his daily press briefing.

“I think they (Islamabad) understand what we told them, and beyond that, I’ll leave it to the government of Pakistan to describe its own reaction,” Crowley replied when asked about Islamabad’s strong reaction about President Obama’s endorsement of India for the Security Council bid.

Earlier on Monday addressing the joint session of Indian Parliament during his visit, Obama said, “I can say today, in the years ahead, I look forward to a reformed United Nations Security Council that includes India as a permanent member.”

“No one should see this in zero-sum terms. And first of all, understand that there is a process. It involves the Security Council and many countries that will have a say in the possible reform of the UN Security Council,” Crowley added.

Crowley noted that the U.S. had briefed Islamabad Obama’s decision, assuring its ally that his support to the bid is not at its expense.

Linda Young – AHN News Writer

Washington, D.C., United States (AHN) – The decision by the United States Federal Reserve to pump $600 billion into the nation’s economy by buying U.S. Treasury Bonds has sparked international criticism led by Germany and China.

China and Germany represent the world’s second- and fourth-largest economies respectively. In addition, they were joined by Brazil and South Africa in criticizing the “quantitative easing.” Quantitative easing is the economic term for buying assets to attempt to boost the economy and lower unemployment.

However, Germany, China, Brazil and South Africa allege that the scheme will not help the U.S. economy and will instead create more problems in the rest of the world. Quantitative easing is expected to lower the value of the dollar, which will make U.S. exports cheaper in world markets.

That means that U.S. exports would be more competitive against German and Chinese exports.

Indeed, the dollar did plunge in value against several of the world’s currencies on Thursday.

Germany’s Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble on Friday said the U.S. Federal Reserve’s move would undermine efforts to create a level playing field in the currency markets.

China Central Bank chief Zhou Xiaochuan said the U.S. should focus on reforming the international currency system. He argued that if the U.S. central banking policy is good for the U.S., but not good for the rest of the world that it might have a negative impact on the rest of the world.

The U.S. has criticized China for artificially keeping its currency devalued for many years to make its exports cheaper. But China made that move when its country had full employment and a budget surplus. The U.S. central bank is not buying U.S. Treasury bonds to deflate the value of the dollar abroad but rather to try to pour money into the American economy – which currently has a budget deficit – and to stimulate the weak economy to encourage American businesses to hire unemployed American workers at a time of continued high unemployment.

Germany also criticized the move because they said it would add to America’s deficit.

Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines (AHN) – The Philippine Congress has taken an interest in the Philippine Airlines labor row after Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz allowed the flag carrier to lay off 2,600 workers.

The House Labor and Employment Committee will set a hearing in the coming days to probe the alleged anti-labor practices of PAL. The hearing would consolidate seven bills and resolutions with the committee, according to Rep. Emil Ong, who chairs the committee.

However, Ong admitted that Congress has no power to reverse Baldoz’s decision. The labor secretary ruled it is lawful for the air carrier to lay off the 2,600 workers and outsource the tasks the employees perform to cut on costs.

On Tuesday, President Benigno Aquino III – who just returned from a five-day state visit in Vietnam – said he would review the PAL decision of Baldoz, but would respect any decision made by the Court of Appeals. The PAL Employees Association said they would elevate Baldoz’s ruling with the Court of Appeals.

On the same day, workers to be affected by the layoff held a rally at the Mendiola Bridge, which is near the president’s office, to protest the DOLE decision.
