Manhattan, NY, United States (AHN) – Allstate Insurance filed a lawsuit with the New York state Supreme Court on Monday against Goldman Sachs Group over $100 million worth of residential mortgage-backed securities.

The insurer said that Goldman considered the securities junk.

Goldman Sachs is not the first company sued by Allstate, which had previously filed similar lawsuits against JPMorgan Chase for more than $700 million of mortgage-backed securities the bank sold to the insurance firm, Credit Suisse ($167 million), Citigroup ($200 million) and Deutsche Bank ($185 million).

In all these lawsuits, Allstate charged the banks with misrepresenting underwriting standards, owner occupancy data and loan-to-value ratios.

On Tuesday, the National Credit Union Administration also filed a lawsuit against Goldman Sachs over charges that the bank breached federal and state laws in the sale of mortgage-backed securities. The NCUA sought more than $491 million from the bank in the lawsuit, which it filed in a Los Angeles Federal court.

Goldman Sachs declined to comment on the Allstate lawsuit.
